Topic outline

  • General

  • Welcome to OSM's Moodle School

    • Moodle is a learning management system (LMS), which is used for blended learning, distance education, flipped classrooms and other e-learning projects. Students can track their grades, see the weight for each assignment, quiz and test, and access many more resources.

  • Navigation

    • You can access your profile from the user menu. It's where you see your name and an arrow. Clicking the Profile link will then display other options, such as grades, any forum and blog entries and a link to edit your profile.

    • Find courses on the front page of the site. You can also click on "My courses" on the left side menu, or by going to your individual dashboards. Make sure you are logged in to see course material. Once you click on a course shell, you can follow the modules for each week. At the top, you’ll find the course syllabus. The modules organize each week’s assignments, lecture, supplementary materials, quizzes and tests.

  • Dashboard

    • This is where you can have easy access to the course pages. There is also a timeline feature that is customizable. It helps remind you of due dates for assignments, quizzes and tests. The calendar tab helps visualize what you need to accomplish for the week.

  • Communication

    • Get new message alerts via email or pop up. See messages from your teacher and others, about new forum posts, graded assignments and more. Message classmates and instructors directly. You can access your messages from any page using the speech bubble icon. Search for the instructor name if they're not already in your contacts. Unread messages will show here too. Click on the icon to open the messaging drawer. You can control how you receive messages by going to the top right user menu, choose Preferences > Message preferences.
